The guy I went with is a tourney fisher on the Chain so he's out there at least twice a week. He's usually on fish but even he said that it was much better than an average day. He was surprised at how many muskies were agressively pursuing our worms and senkos. We overheard some muskey fishermen, that were throwing muskey lures, and they had boated a monster at some point before noon yesterday too. We were laughing though because the muskeys were targeting us and we weren't even fishing for them.

Thanks for the reply, it's mostly auto scrap and scrap metal, ie.305 engine block, old steel truck bed tool box and assorted old steel odd parts. I found a couple of places online last night, one in Morris (Cardinal recycling)and one in Ottawa(Buckman iron and metal) but I'll check out those other places also.
Thanks again.

I am not a northwoods vet, but I was up in Hayward last year during the exact same time period you are looking at. Although weather is never the same year to year we ended up getting rain on 4 out of 8 days. It was also a little cool most days although some days were quite warm. It could really be hit or miss on the weather. As for fishing we found the pike and walleye to be quite active. Bass seemed to be somewhat cooperative as well, but I didn't target them as much. The musky were less active than they are in early September, but I heard of some being caught. I didn't get one, but I tried. With the weather we have been having this year I would say the fish are going to be behind a few weeks in the normal routines so the chances are you could get into some active fish of the esox variety. Hope this helps a little.

                                      Long time no post WCF,

So its been a while since I have been out but managed time this morning to wet a line or two. My godmother and I were planning on Lake Arlington but stayed close for other reasons.

We arrived at the horseshoe at 0930 and first cast was approx 0945 and fish on by 0946...no joke. It barely hit bottom and the perch just nailed it. Fought like a champ and woulda made a great eater, but im not poaching. I can wait a week or so. It was down hill from there with numerous gobies (all executed) and then the wind picked up and so did we.

Headed in the harbor to find more gobies, some baby perch and a bunch of small coho's. No hardcore fishing today, just to sit and see what happens. Throughout all my outings, I never learn and once again got sunburned
