 Post subject: 7-17-10 Small Pike out of the DPR

Went fishing with two nephews at OCC at 8 AM and got skunked. We were there for about an hour. So we packed it up and headed to the DPR near Big Bend Lake.

Within 5 minutes, I caught this very small pike (perhaps 12 inches). Caught with a chartreuse colored spinnerbait (my favorite for pike and bass.) Nothing else for the rest of the hour that we were there. Photo taken with my 2 MP cellphone camera. Released ASAP back into the DPR to grow up and be caught again another day.

Yes, still fun. When he first hit, I thought maybe I snagged a tree branch or something. But after about 5 seconds, I realized that it was pulling back and no tree branch does that! :mrgreen:

I've had bigger last year. But this little guy seems normal for the DPR. Very skinny too. Snakes! They are snakes, I tell you! LOL
