Friday evening, I was stoked about getting out early the next morning. I woke up before the alarm, at 4 a.m., and I arrived at Lake Glenview at 5:15. For the next three hours I worked my best spots with my usual gear and soft plastics. I didn't have one bite--in hindsight, I should have brought my topwater gear. There were a number of fish busting the surface, but I am not sure if they were bass. At 8:15 I decided to take a drive over to my favorite little retention pond in Des Plaines. Last fall, with my newly purchased Fuego bait cast reel, I caught my personal best largemouth in this pond, so I figured it would be worth a try. I fished it from 8:45 to 10 without a strike. Again, in hindsight I should have brought my topwater gear. So, I was feeling pretty low after that. Sunday, I didn't get to go out, so I made my plan to hit Lake Glenview Monday evening.

Tonight, I recovered with 4 nice bass. My first, 11", was caught on a Rapala Skitter Pop, in Lime Frog, in the south pool near the bridge at 7:15. I was using my spinning gear. The other three came on my Daiwa Fuego bait cast reel and Daiwa Cielo rod, throwing a Zoom Baby Brush Hog in Junebug with my usual 3/0 EWG hook, 1/8 oz bullet weight, between 7:45 and 8:45 p.m. in the north pool. There was more activity in the water tonight, and I worked the laydown. I had several hits but missed the hookset, so I worked the bait through the same area and picked up the missed fish.

12", 1.15lb
13", 1.20lb
14", 1.35lb

I am looking forward to getting back out soon.
