4-4 to 4-8 reports

Postby HEDDONFROG » Apr Thu 09, 2020 1:26 am

I dare say, I’ve been fishing a lot of late but definitely utilizing safe practices

Saturday: Got together with Mike at a lake he’s wanted to fish. He heard it was not a numbers lake and if you caught one it would be nice. Intel was correct. The skunk beater was big @ 4lbs 12ozs. Caught on a Jackall Gantarel Jr in a Carp finish

Sunday: Quick outing with the son. As soon as we got there and saw it was dead calm I knew we were in trouble. Skunked

Monday: Spent way too much time at a Park district lake that I know doesn’t get good until mid-April or later. Caught one skunk beater on a bait that was only slightly larger than the bass. Also lost the Carp Ganteral swimbait I used Saturday. That hurt

Tuesday: Played with my new Gan Craft Jointed Claw 178 and caught 3 so so fish. Good confidence builder. Put on a Vision 110 about a 1/2hr before I had to be home and got a decent 3-1/2

Wednesday: The last collage may not look like much but when you’ve waded waist deep for a 1/2 mile+ for hours, tripped on fallen limbs, fallen chest deep into muskrat holes, gotten bitten by spiders and had brambles poking you all over...they’re a total triumph lol fished 3 new lakes with a couple of buddies and my son from 12 until 5. Sadly that was the full take for the day but we learned a lot and I think we all still managed to have some fun. 4 more new places to try, hopefully there are some bigs

Coat on one day, T-shirt the next day, back to coat on. That pretty much sums up 4/4 - 4/8. Kudos on the exploration and finding new bass.

Don’t let RonG see those first 2 pictures. I wore my fishing mask at the store yesterday. I wonder what they thought of a man walking around with a skull face. A month ago I would have been arrested.

Excellent fish for sure. Even the skunks are better than what I've been doing.

Dave - Nice fish. Hope you're playing it safe. Thanks for the vicarious thrills during my sequestration.
Keep calm and fish on...

There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid

Damn that's a big bait... and even the smaller ones can't resist. Sorry to hear of your loss.

18 months? I bet your weather site routinely can't get right what's going to happen tomorrow.

Nothing like a good a wade to figure out the bottom. Whether lake or river you learn a lot that way. Been wading busse lately, thats not new, but wading new shorelines. You can quickly learn sand , muck, and gravel bottom areas. Ive learned where gill beds are and big bass beds fro last year. No fish on them yet. Carp lure? Looks pricey

Nice fish and awesome looking lures!! I watched a YouTube video about a dude who throws nothing but unreal expensive swimbaits and catches monster bass!
