Why it's called fishing & not catching

On Tuesday I spent the afternoon at Busse with my best friend cruising around the main pool. Besides the fact that it was the first time in years that I've been in a canoe twice in one week it was a fruitless day. 4 - 5 hours of fishing without so much as a 'how dee do'.

We fished shallow, we fished deep. We threw spinner baits, square bills, plastics & buzzbaits. I tied on a wacky worm & fished slow. NOTHING. We've had a number of slow days this year but this was the 1st time we get didn't one - not one - tap.

Yesterday I went to one of my favorite spots on Salt Creek for less than 2 hours and caught 2 LMBs. Both were good size for Salt Creek. Both were caught on a tiny jig & twister with a safety pin spinner. The 2nd one was a nice, dark river LMB.

So go figure...

Keep calm and fish on...

There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid
