Catching a big bass, pike, or walleye through the ice while jigging for panfish is one of the most fun things in fishing. Trying to get the fish in on such light line really makes your heart pound.

I caught a nice 17" bass myself this weekend on 2lb test and #12 jig. It made my week.

Nice fish !
I have the exact same jig ! {but in red}.
That particular jig with a torn waxie was good for picking off the bigger crappie on top of the schools passing by yesterday on the Chain.

Phil's Beach you say ? A great place for a kid like me in the 70's...

You Guys crack me up......and a Cranked sighting wow!, Billie o i rarely get out on ice more just to hang with Lenn. Was gonna sell boat this year but decided to keep it will be more time out there to spend with you. Fonzie there reopening Phils Beach in May after almost 30 years the Slide is still there.I Used to fish Bangs quite a bit and maybe should hit it once in awile especially for those Crappies. Found some great smaller Lakes over the Border that has kept me up North last 5 years more than ever.................a little tip for whoever goes back to read this they are doing well on Crystal Lake ....and a 29inch Walleye was caught in 3 feet of water at 11pm . That Lake always produces thru the ice . It was released

2lb test line, the way to go when times get hard. I have fished as light as 1lb test with 8oz hook length and got bites as a result. Tight lines all.
