Last weekend

Postby polishfly » Aug Thu 15, 2019 1:04 pm

Late post but I was in no hurry. Last Saturday I got out with the elusive Zenfish and hit the northern DPR for some action. Action was on fire and I ended up with a 30" hat trick. Caught 3 pike measuring over 30" with a DPR PB in the mix! 30.75", 31", and 32.75" My previous PB was 32" so it was basically the same size but who's countin? ME! I only used 1 lure from beginning to end and it got beat up bad, so much so that I ended the float with no hook. A few bass mixed in made for a good float and the weather could not have been more pleasant.

Sunday I dragged my dad out to Busse for my first time fishing with him in a kayak. I still have my Ascend D10T and that's what he used. He loved it out there and was paddling away like a mad man...I lost him every time I stopped somewhere to cast a few times. Fishing was really slow, the weeds were thick and the water was pretty stained outside of the weeds. I caught one skunk saver on a swimbait to show my dad that I wasn't just all fish pics. It was awesome and we will definitely be hitting the water together more often.

Some nice DPR teeth there! Grats on the PB. Glad you were able to fight off the Busse skunk too. I've had plenty of those there.

Like the lure. Get pops on the river for your next outing.

Thank you thank you! River float with dad is a must I wanted to make sure he likes it and can handle his own in the yak with the option to bail after 15 mins if he hated it on the lake. River is a commitment if it’s a 1 way and I’m not going make him paddle up stream for a 2 way

Now I feel really stupid for declining a canoe adventure on the northern section on Sunday ( for extended family :sarcasm: ).

Busse, in summer? And he loved it? :D
Get him out there in the fall and he’ll be dragging you there from now on. Fall Colors, Wildlife, Walleye, of course Bass, Occasional Bite offs (unless your using leaders), and lessening crowds.
Then take him out in the spring
