Hit the same area of Busse as a couple weeks ago. Got there around noon & fished until 4 or so.
Weather seemed to alternate between overcast & breezy and partly cloudy and quite warm. Water was cloudy.
I stated out throwing a new Nobey paddletail on a weighted hook. Great action lure but no action fish. Over the next few hours I tried a couple of buzzbaits, a Mepps spinner, a spinnerbait, and some jig/twisters. Had good-sized bass hit a small paddletail but just as I bent down to pull him out it got off.
A bit later a bass hit a buzzbait but when I set the hook the lure flew out of the water & over my head. Holy shit.
Highlight of the day was the wildflowers blooming in the forest. Shooting stars, Blue Flox, Wild Geraniums and Wild Hyacinths. The hyacinths reminded me of a time when, stepping out of the savanna at Wolf Rd Prairie I saw what I thought was a lake where I knew there was no lake. When I walked over to it it turned out to be a large, dense growth of hyacinths.
Also, the woods were alive with birds. Yellow Warblers, Indigo Buntings, Song Sparrows. Purple Martens sailed over the water catching bugs. A great day to be outdoors!

Keep calm and fish on...
There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid
