Largely due to my buddies Adam and Bill, I had a renewed interest in bass fishing Delavan late this summer. Compared to the Spring this time of year is much more difficult to get on big numbers. Through lots of exploring of locations and techniques we were able to find some success on the deep weedline bite. Some days were a grind for 20 fish and other days were lights out huge number days when we would get on a school.
The day I caught this fish was a grind day. We were chased off the water early by storms, had some breakfast, then headed back out. Fishing was slow and Adam and I were going to try one more spot and call it a day. Adam then caught a few quick fish so I stuck around the spot a few more minutes longer. This big nasty hit in about 12 feet of water on a sharp outside turn on the weedline. When Adam netted this fish he was more excited then I was. I did not realize the size of the fish until I took it out of the net and held it. Adam was able to get some great video and pictures of this fish, which came in at a WI PB for me of 6.81 lbs. Released of course to hopefully release her genetics back into the lake next Spring.
