8-6 & 8-8 The thrill of victory & agony of defeat

Postby HEDDONFROG » Aug Sat 10, 2019 11:08 am

Tuesday I stopped afterwork at my favorite park district lake for a quick outing. I brought one rod and a handful of swim jigs and while working shoreline cover and rip rap, got my biggest of the year, a healthy 4.15 (I cannot buy a 5+ this year) the Thursday Lake Michigan outing was 3hrs of tackle prep and organizing, 8+hrs of grind it out fishing and battling waves from 10-15 NE winds for a bunch of these itty bitty little guys. On a positive note, it appears that year class was an excellent one. The wind & wave forecast was 7-10 WNW with waves 1-2’ the reality was 2 to 4’s in the absolute worst direction and we never left Calumet harbor. No guarantees we’d have done better in some of our favorite spots but would have been nice to find out. LM is a tough old bitch lol

Great effort! Lake MI is a nasty old bitch.
Keep calm and fish on...

There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid

That big bass is beautiful and it's good to know you catch some small ones on occasion too.

Nice LMB catch.

The SMB makes you look like a mere mortal.

God that songs longer than I remembered, lol As for the other, I fished hard for 2hrs today throwing various jigs and later buzzbaits and didn't catch, see or sniff one fish. Scared one bullfrog but that was it. Shit happens
