IL state parks closed?

Postby polishfly » Mar Sun 15, 2020 3:19 pm

Is this legit? I was at Shabbona Friday night into Saturday and it was open.

Where are some non-DNR access points for the Dupage and Des Plaines where you can drop in a kayak? I am going to get desperate. Maybe have to hit up some subdivision ponds.

Yep, state run parks and lakes are closed. And i'm guessing the forest preserves will be next which REALLY sucks. But, these are unprecedented times. I had a lot of outings planned for Busse and Skokie Lagoons this early spring.

IDNR Facebook page has lit up with rage. My take is the Forest Preserve Lakes are now closed unfortunately. What has this world come too. I have had such a good start this week, fish feeding well.

Caught some covid bass on the dpr today. The river is high and dirty, but managed 6 bites and landed 5. Tight to the bank along rocky(levee) shore lines. Seen quite a few joggers and bike riders on the path. This was Lake County F.P.
Nature and shit.

Busse was swarmed with people today :( I figured nobody had anywhere else to go... but if they close 'em down yeah, it won't be good. Damn.

My mom said something about them banning any gatherings of 50 or more people, school and business excepted...

Wouldn’t surprise me either.
:? Weird, I’d think the woods, lakes and rivers would be a great place to avoid Corona. Hell, that’s where I planned to spend my self-Quarantine, floating in the middle of a lake.

Guess I’ll just have to fish “ninja” and hoof it. Who knows, might have to eat some fish if the stores stay as empty as they were this weekend.
“Hope for the best , plan for the worst” One of the reasons I wanted to learn to catch fish

Not making light of the crisis, appears more serious than previous health scares, never seen a drastic response like this, fragmented as it is.
Though, figured it would go something like this, Just hoped earlier. And without the politics.

But I’m gonna get my spring “fix” in one way or another.
Stay safe and fish on!

I spoke with my contact at the Forest Preserves of Cook County this morning and received a confirmation email since.
As of right now all Forest Preserves of Cook County fishing lakes are open to fishing. Any change in the status of the fishing lakes will be posted on their web site at www.fpdcc.com. I did run by a few lakes this morning which are all open.
Tight lines all.

Skifish1 is bunkered in his bomb shelter and not coming out for four months. He bought 4 months worth of Ramen Noodles and baked beans coupled with 8 months worth of toilet paper as he stated on the other thread.

I'm selling TP out of my trunk buck a roll. Yeah can't be stopped. I pretty much can't be stopped park by bridges side of road whatever. Those with boats that trailer launch then it limits. Still can't figure out why parks closed perhaps it's mainly to protect state workers. Open park's not a risk to users. Maybe thought is IDNR if things really go bad may even need to be used for other non park related emergency handling....

I had no real pattern except real tight to the bank for bass.

2 bites on Square Bill , 2 bites on Jerk Bait, and 2 bites on a Jackhammer with powerbait toad trailer.

KVD Squarebill or Jerkbait is a solid choice for spring.
Nature and shit.

I want to hit a trail next to my home so "tight to the bank" will be a question of access. And casting skill. Oh, and if see you a beautiful chartreuse spinnerbait in branch over the river - that's not me

Me neither but there's a really nice blue one hanging in a tree where I fish the DPR. Next time the water's low I'm putting on waders & getting it.

Ahh the wonders of the free bait surprise to lessen the sting of a skunk. Found a baby 1 minus at Penny Road Pond Sunday when practicing casting. Someone knows I have a crankbait addiction.

Just like Larry Lightfoot, that Tony Preckwinkle is one ugly man. Probably would look a little better with a beard and stache.

They can keep closing parks and preserves for crowding, but these same fools will just drive to the next park or preserve and overcrowd that one even worse. A lot of these dolts are not following any of the guidelines. Have you looked at Craigslist lately? It doesn't look like anything has changed there. I look at electronics, computers and sometimes the free section and it's business as usual. There's this moron that has been trying to give away a cardboard box for a month now. He keeps listing and relisting his ad every two days. What is wrong with these people? Throw your stupid box into the recycling!

Sunday's news wrote:In Louisiana, which has seen a spike in cases and has a shelter-in-place order, the Life Tabernacle Church in the town of Central held services at 10 a.m. More than 550 parishioners attended, about half as many as the week before, pastor Tony Spell told a local news reporter.

Looks like the local parks in my area are to remain open, but all adjacent/related parking lots are closing. Apparently people were congregating still. Gonna be a long walk to get to any fishable water for me if I go out this weekend.
