Fish Identification?

Postby Zenfish » Nov Wed 11, 2015 5:17 pm

While enduring the challenge of patiently waiting for weekend fishing, I was looking through some old pics and found some of a fish I caught a few years ago in the North Channel. Hoping someone can help identify it. I'm guessing it's a pet that was released.

Thanks for the help with the Pacu ID. I caught him by Howard by that discharge, back in the days when 3 lb bass were common there.

Hah, indeed. I was apprehensive about mentioning that for fear that I'd be swallowed up in the WWD poop argument abyss.

Sure wish the idiots would stop dumping pets they don't want in places they don't belong. Look at what's happening in the Everglades.
Keep calm and fish on...

couldn't agree more. I used to breed ball pythons and would go to all of the exotic shows....couldnt come up with a number but lets just say I saw countless numbers of kids walking out with a small tupperware container that held either a baby burmese, retic or green anaconda. parents just off in their own little world just getting the kid whatever they wanted before doing research. shame on the parents, shame on the sellers who don't educate people when it comes to the consequence of the purchase. I have bought and sold everything from tiny geckos to carpet pythons and red tail boas and I would always refuse to sell to anyone under a certain age or someone I deemed too stupid to care for them. Problem is money talks with most sellers.

same holds true with all animals imo. I have owned piranha I've owned pit bulls. Just sucks that irresponsible owners are the root cause of problems whether its to attacks on humans or ecosystems alike.

Somebody dumped this guy off in a subdivision pond in Manhattan last month. My wife's coworker lives on the pond and took this picture.

In October none the less. Some irresponsible idiot just dumping it off to slowly freeze to death. At least they were able to capture the little dude.
