July

From the south suburbs to the northwest suburbs, the Des Plaines River provides some excellent fishing opportunities.

Just a heads up this post although mostly DPR photos does contain Fox River, Lake Michigan, and Chippewa River photos. Pretty easy to discern. I'll start with DPR stuff.

Took the whole family for river cruise to see the boulder dam while the water was up. That makes it easier to jump over the logs. In this outing we had to jump over the trunk of a newly fallen tree that has created a full river blockage.

Wife was not happy with me sending it through the trees and over the trunk.

On the way down river we spooked 2 bald eagles that were perched pretty low. One of them dropped a feather in the middle of the river as it took flight probably 20ft over our heads. You can vaguely make out the pair of eagles on either side of my sons head, one in the tree the other in flight.

Pretty proud dad that my daughter was able to hold a big channel cat that was the same size as her 2yr old frame.

Last is the sad news we got when we went to go see our favorite coyote. That was one old yote!

Did quite a few fox river runs. Didnt light it on fire, but got a good handful of bass each time.

Way cool! What's the story about the coyote? Domesticated?

Pretty sure the coyote was found injured & taken to Trailside for rehab. It got habituated to people & they couldn't release back to the wild.

Thanks for the report. It's been a pretty slow summer for me on the DPR, it's nice to be reassured that there still are fish swimming in it.
