East branch 9/3

Wanted to try some new spots on the east branch after the morning rains. Tried a section connected to river off rt. 53 in Glen Ellyn. Total wash left with a skunk. Ran down to Woodridge and pulled out a few dink large mouth in green valley preserve. The lake on Google maps at green valley east of the river basically was a puddle. Continued to a new spot and had my luck improve. Pulled out about a dozen large mouth, a hungry green sunfish, a spotted bass and thankfully one fiesty smallmouth. Missed a bunch and lost a few large mouth too. The smallie came off the hook after a short fight. Was absolutely devasted cause I seen how nice of a fish I just lost. Instantly threw back in and to my surprise it hit again. This time the hook set perfectly. Forgot how much of a fight smallmouth put up! Pics below. Water was a bit stained cause of rains and current wasn't too strong. All fish caught on keitech swing impact 4" on 2/0 owner twistlock.

Nice!

Is that the bridge on the bike path between Greene rd. & Rt. 53?

Yes exactly that bridge. First time trying to fish the river there and access was really limited for the shoreline. No one using the trails cause cloudy weather so fished off the bridge. Bass were basically schooled up under neath the bridge. Had to downgrade to a small plastic worm cause they weren't hooking on the bigger plastics.

I fished the same stretch last year and had the same results

South of 53 and west off 355 where they intersect Google satelitte shows a little lake connected to the river system.. parking is a gravel area before power station. Seen carp but that's about it.
