Beautiful 80* and sunny day so I took a break from yard work and went on a bicycle ride. I zigzagged between LaSalle and Dekalb counties and fished any creek I passed over. I brought my ultra light kit with a cheap wallyworld graphite rod and a Mitchell 310X Gold reel spooled with 2lb Trilene XL. Didn't catch anything huge but a lot of small gills, crappie and an occasional largemouth. Nothing over 10". I also caught my share of creek chubs. I mostly through 1/32 oz tube jigs and a little crankbait minnow that only dives to 6". The pic is my fish and ride setup. The tackle bag stuffs easily into the tail bag and my lunch and cold drinks into the bag on the handlebars. The rod sits in a tube I cut a notch in for the reel handle to sit in and it's fastened to the frame with wire ties. There is a short piece of velcro I wrap around the rod and a fastener on the bag to keep it from bouncing out on rough trails.. This system has worked for over 6 years.
