Creek hike

There are seemingly endless amounts of rivers, creeks and their tributaries throughout northeast Illinois.

Creek hike

Postby matt_ski » Aug Tue 14, 2018 10:08 am

Met up with a friend to hike down a creek we never fished before. Haven't fished a completely new river/creek this season and forgot how fun it is to keep exploring what is behind the next bend. Very dense forest and trees fallen across the creek bed made it feel like hiking through the jungle. Fishing was amazing too. Between me and a friend we caught around 60 fish. They were hitting just about anything. Dumb creek fish that never seen a lure before, but helluva fun anyway. A lot of quality fish as well.

That's some cool shit.
Keep calm and fish on...

There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid

Pretty awesome pretty much sums up why I like to explore what's around the next bend. Your reports are always good having an outing exploration that goes beyond just fishing

That is awesome. I have not done the creek wading in a long time, but in Kendall County there were several creeks loaded with smallies, among other things.

Sounds like an epic outing. I love creek wading but have never had that level of success. It must have been awesome!

Thanks all! Yea it was unusually productive creek/day. I dont ever remember having a day this good. Every next hole was a better hole with more fish. It was easy too loose track of time.

Wow impressive numbers and that fish is a beaut. That kind of pay out is few and far between. As others have said wading creeks is an adventure and just a great way to clear the brain. Filling the brain with memories like that make it worth it. It also reminds us why fishing isn't just a hobby. Well done.
To fish or not to fish......that's a stupid question.
