Rusk Co.

There are seemingly endless amounts of rivers, creeks and their tributaries throughout northeast Illinois.

Rusk Co.

Took the whole family north to one of my usual haunts for giant footballs. Daddy did a little musky casting as well and some catfishing at sunset back at the cabin. Weather was perfect, tornadoes were causing havoc the day before we arrived. Good thing we missed that.

A friend of mine was recently inducted into the freshwater fishing hall of fame and it was the first time I've seen him in two years. It was nice to share a few fish stories and drink a few old styles with him in celebration.

Now that's some wholesome family fun. I love that rust-colored water. Some quality fish poses too.

Yes little Auxette has been breaking in her sea-legs lately. She has the river rat blood and cried and screamed every time we tried to put her back in the boat after a nice cool down wade.

Seen a couple giant sturgeon as well. Seen one in about two feet of water that was probably close to 100lbs and 6ft long. That musky hit a top water mid river. It actually pecked at the lure 3 times before engulfing it. At first I thought it was a smallmouth trying to eat my big lure before the explosion happened. Hit a 1.25oz BPS Double Down Plopper .

Awesome on both accounts. Great trip with the fam!

Another awesome family outing Aux!

Well, except for the Old Pyle. My Grandpa used to drink that swill somehow... We used to joke that it was beechwood aged and "fully poisoned".

Good enough for dad is good enough for me. Hard to tell the difference between old style and miller. Some liqour stores will sell old style kegs as Miller kegs just by switching the caps. Trust me I know, I sold beer for years.

I beg to differ on the taste difference there. Because there is a big difference, or at least there was 40 years ago when I last tasted either. I don't know what Stroh did to Old Style after the acquired it nor what Pabst is doing to it these days.

Stroh used to have a dark beer that was quite tasty way back when, it was only available in kegs.

To each their own, drink what you like and like what you drink. I don't drink much beer these days, but when I do I'll stick with my Weihenstephaner Hefeweiss Dunkel.

I sold that beer! Claims to have been brewed since 1040 or something crazy like that. I had quite a few German establishments I'd cater to. Resi's Bierstube & Laschett's on Irving Park, Brauhaus on Lincoln Ave, Mirabell on Addison, Dank Haus on Western Ave, and a few more I'm forgetting at the moment.
