Venturing into the great outdoors throughout Chicagoland. More that just fishing - hiking, biking, nature trails, nature centers, geocaching, sights to see, etc., etc.

The funds to care for them probably got redirected to pay for some politician's Viagra prescription. Only way to explain the lax disciplinary action.

Pretty shabby. My kids, when they were little, liked going to see the elk.

That was a highlight of my youth. We loved going to see them.

Funding shouldn't be an excuse. There are enough animal lovers around that if people knew of the danger, they would've helped out. The animal shelter in Huntley had its AC go down during a hot spell in June, and they raised $20,000 to replace it in a few hours.

Handling funds hasn't been Illinois' or Cook County's forte. Still wouldn't rule it out.

Let's throw a bunch of really large mammals in a small pen and keep our fingers crossed.
The whole thing is animal cruelty to begin with. Nothing more sad than going to look at those sorry animals wasting away in that pen.
Nature and shit.

Im with aux here. That was a stupid ass idea to put them there in the first place... If nature didnt put it there its not meant to be there!

Nature actually put a shit ton of them here before we wiped em out in the 19th century. I agree though it's messed up to put them in that pen. That said I went over there frequently when I lived in EGV. My dog loved interacting with them. I fed them leaves. They even had a calf in there spring 2015. They weren't so cool with my dog that time around. Whoever neglected to take care of them should be out of a job and probably worse. Instead they will probably delay the suspensions until deer season or something. So those guys can go downstate and get it in. I hate the government.

Kinda make you wonder what's going on at Busse. This occurrence plus the drug-addled employee who drove an FP truck into traffic at high speed along Arlington Hgts Rd & killed a guy makes me think the management there needs a good shake up.
Keep calm and fish on...
There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid
