Took my youngest son for a 3 hour tour at the Goons today. Easily the highest water levels I have seen there. The trailer parking was roped off bc of the high water.
We fished a little, got skunked, but my son spotted one hell of a big snapping turtle! We were able to motor in a complete circle over after Tower Road bridge over both spillways.

That's a big turtle. The biggest snapper I've seen was at Bunker Hill on the north branch. Easily close to 3 ft long. I guess they like it around there.
Keep calm and fish on...

I drove through on Tower Rd this morning at about 630am. Dam was totally submerged under the high water.
Nature and shit.

The spillway dams get submerged from time to time but this is the highest I’ve ever seen it.

Love the Snapper.
This is the biggest i've seen at busse, est. 3-1/2 feet. Probably as old as Busse

Have you ever fished the north branch around Bunker Hill? I live in that neighborhood but have never seen anyone fishing. Seems very shallow and have never seen any sign of fish.

Yes I have & caught dink bass. Gotta find deeper sections. I've fished north of Oakton too. Same results.
