Hit the south end of the 'goons with my best friend yesterday afternoon to christen the recent repairs on my solo canoe.
Absolutely spectacular day although a bit windy - I was worried I might have a mishap getting the canoe off my car. But all went well - at least until we started fishing.
I started out throwing a lipless crankbait and got zero interest. Switched to a white spinnerbait and after many, many casts hooked a nice, fat 12 incher. This was at about 4:30 - we'd been fishing for 2 hours. I tried a couple of other spinnerbaits & finally tied on a jig & twister with a safety pin spinner. Nothing got any more interest.
My buddy started with a Heddon Torpedo with the same results I got with the crankbait. He tried various lures but wound up with a skunk.
Fished until just before sundown. Good to get the boat out - it came thru with flying colors.
Keep calm and fish on...
There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid
