Naming your Kayak

Postby Scipio24 » Jul Thu 21, 2016 12:43 pm

Just had a thought...I don't have a name for my kayak. Is this something most people do? It's honestly a thought that never occurred to me.

In the world of larger boats, it's bad luck to have a vessel without a name. So I wanted to see who here has named their yak? If you did name it, what did you name it and did you actually put the name on the yak or just know it in your heart? :P

Hmm...never really thought about it but if I ever named either of my canoes one would be 'Rupert'. Named for a 1965 Plymouth Fury I had years ago.

He was a charming fellow with a 225 CI Slant Six, Torqueflight auto, 28 gal gas tank and positraction diff. Long story on how he came with that unusual assortment. But he was durable and reliable. Got decent gas mileage so 28 gallons took you a long way - also took a long time to get up to 60.

In fact, there he is now - trying to get through the hole in a redwood with his door open. Just the sort of thing he'd try to do...

Have not put the name on her yet but I refer to her as "I'm Gonna Miss Her". Brad Paisley fans will understand.
