Great pics. I've seen a few bald eagles in Dupage county this year, never had in the past. On New Years Day I saw an adult and a juvenile flying around the large park near my house from my front window. Could have been an adult and a red tailed hawk, didn't get a good look at the one I thought was the juvenile. It was during the deep freeze and I'd have to assume there was not much open water nearby.

Very nice pictures! Reminds me of the time one looked me dead in the eye as it flew about 20 feet away from me. (Also at Starved Rock.) Very touching, and humbling experience that I will never forget.
Saw one at, of all places, 83rd and Pulaski, about a month ago. Never know where they'll turn up!

that's a mile and a half from where I live. Was it perched or way up in the sky?

Cool pics. Have one like that when I snuck up on an osprey.

No, bufflehead. You cannot hunt those. :wtf: Stick around on this site. We'll get you back on the straight and narrow. As for me, I'm incorrigible. Many have tried...

Excellent photos. I just had to stare at them for awhile.

In 2014 someone found an eagle in their yard in Oak Lawn. The town next to mine. It had a bullet in it's wing. Welcome to Chicago.

So... for whatever reason any raptor is captured. Like the RTH I posted about. The one with the awesome video eating a rodent. It gets a federal US Fish and Wildlife leg band:

Keep calm and fish on...

Can't believe someone would actually shoot a bald eagle, Mark. I hadn't read that one.

A new low - even for Chicago.

People these days are shooting each other all the time, especially in Chicago. Hell, they even execute kids at point blank range. Not that shocking to see someone shoot a bald eagle, unfortunately.
