Bode 9/2010 - SMALLIE!!!!

I just found a picture I took last fall, pretty sure this is the second bass I ever caught. Got it on a nightcrawler near the mouth of poplar creek at the NW side of the north bode lake. When I caught it, I was sure it was a largemouth, but looking at it now, with the red eyes and mouth that seems to not extend past the eye, is this a smallie?



Forgive me, I'm still a total newbie and am very bad at fish ID'ing. Either way, here's proof that there is at least one bass at Bode. At least there was last september!

Wow, so I've been desperately hunting for smallies for months because I thought I'd never caught one.. turns out I caught one a BODE of all places!!??

I think Poplar Creek runs from Bode so it makes sense that there would be Smallies in there? Although there has been no reports of any Smallies around Poplar Creek that close to Bode.

Interesting post... It wasn't until recently that I found that Poplar Creek connects the Fox to Bode... It is very possible that there is a muskie or two swimming around in that back lake too... My attempts back there have yielded me nothing his far though...

I recall a post about a tiger musky at Bode a few years back, and then revisited a few months back. This is why I love fishing, you just never know...
