Turtlehead, Arrowhead and Sag Quarry

Postby Wolfnight » Dec Fri 06, 2019 9:15 pm

Just completed three days at Turtlehead, Arrowhead and Sag Quarry. Day One at Turtle gave me two bluegill and a largemouth (see picture). All caught on a bunch of bloodworm, 1lb hook-line and size 22 hook. Water temps a cold 38. Only had four bites, three fish banked. Day 2 at Arrowhead was my first skunk of 2019. Water temps a very cold 34. I fished in the deep part of the lake at 12 feet. No sign of anything on any bait - chopped worm, bread punch, corn, spikes and blood-worm. Also scaled down to 24 size hooks. Day 3 today at Saq Quarry was the best. Water temps 40. Caught 4 trout and 12 bluegill on a bunch of bloodworms on a size 22 hook. Total weight 1kg 700 grams (3lbs 7oz in old money). One of the trout was a golden color (see picture). All fish were returned alive. Three interesting days in wonderful wildlife and good weather. Only saw one fellow angler and Sheriff Joe the whole time. Tight lines all.

Thanks for the report.. where do you buy your live bait in that area.. I only seen half dead nightcrawlers in that area at dumpy gas stations

Love to see fish pics this time of year! I still haven't caught a golden trout, thought maybe they stopped stocking them. Thanks for sharing! Check out Angler's Outlet on Oak Park Ave in Tinley Park for bait.

jonny2can, I buy my live bait local at Walmart etc if I can but it is hit & miss, so tend to use speedyworm online or Grubco, both good on delivery and price/volume. tight lines
