Open Water

Postby Wolfnight » Dec Wed 25, 2019 11:59 am

Open water at Tampier Lake this morning, without family commitments I would have wet a line on the peninsula, especially with the drop off into deep water. Water temps a chilling 38 so one can expect a slow warm up and fish movement as a result. Interestingly my mate's pond is filled with fish which are not even moving at the moment; they are all staying rooted to the bottom. Tight lines all.

That’s about what I saw at one lake yesterday, another was completely open and the rest were still 95% ice covered. I’m sure several opened up with the mid to high 40 night we had. They’ll still bite in 38, especially since it’s a warming trend, instead of crashing. I don’t remember what it’s like to fish 40+ water it’s been so long lol
