Papoose skunk

Postby CBatt2 » Apr Sat 17, 2021 2:02 pm

Tried for crappie along wall at Papoose for a couple of hours this morning. Red/white tube, green/red fleck paddle-tails. Only 2 taps and ALOT of scummy weeds to show for it.
Maybe still a little early, but this was prime-time in years past.
Hoping the "bucket-heads" didn't put the hurt on this lakes crappie population. Size and numbers were just getting decent.

Based on my experience on Salt Creek we might be looking at a bumper crop of algae this year. Way more of it at this point than in years past.
Keep calm and fish on...

There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid

I'm not a big fan of weed kills, and realize the benefit of healthy cover, but this little lake gets ridiculous, generally by late spring. It wouldn't bother me so much if canoes or kayaks were allowed, but Cook county says nope!
