These 16 crappies!
The crappie have been on fire at times this week & this lake seems full of them. All caught swimming lake fork live baby shads on a 1/24 head in 12-15' of water. Released another 15. What a blast on the UL gear!

I had the panfish bug early this year and those are some fine examples. On a UL set-up that's big fun.

Beautiful slabs.

Was in Western Michigan last week, family vacation and saw on the menu-Lake Ontario bluegill fish and chips. Never saw bluegill on a menu before. They were delicious and took me back to when Mom and I would eat a mess of them.

Some nice eating there. What color was working and any issues with the durability of the bait?

As far as color, it didnt (doesnt) matter much. I threw 3 different colors,(blue grass, pearl, & black pearl from the Lake Fork color chart)& didnt notice much of a difference. If you have the depth/presentation on point, I think the color is of minor significance Durability of these baits is excellent for a soft bait "IF" your jig has the appropriate sized hook. Mismatched hook sizes seem to allow the bait to slide around on the shank more, causing its demise sooner. A #4 jig hook matches the LFT baby shad best, imo. A dab of super glue between the head & plastic when rigging also keeps it from getting torn up from sliding on the hook.

Went back to yesterdays hotspot this a.m. It sucked :o . Only got 2 then the rain started increasing. Started heading back & when I reached the lengthy no-wake zone, a swim jig from my FL tackle caught my eye. I said "screw it! Im cold & soaked already, what am I trying to avoid at this point, anyway?!".
Tied on the black/blue/purple jig & threaded on a gambler ugly otter for a trailer. 2nd cast:

A real nice largie hammered it.
About a dozen casts later, threw at a couple laydowns & the jig got hammered. Was pretty certain this was no bass, & when it came up near the boat, I saw bars. A nice musky, what I would guess i the upper 30s to low 40s. Tussled withit for about a minute or so & the hook pulled. The 2nd respectable musky ive hooked up on bass gear & came unbuttoned since Ive been here :x .

Shortly after got this little guy
.

Moved 2 other decent fish that I assume were bass before a 15"pike snipped my jig off, thereby ending my 30 minutes tossing around my 1 swimjig I had with  & it was begining to pour, so that effectively ended the excursion.
