Its finally sinking in that my last outings for the season are now in sight. Fall colors really started popping this week, the days are getting awful short, water temp is dropping by the day, & snow is forecast for the weekend
. From late a.m.-mid afternoon 51-54 was the range I found today.
The last 10 days have had atrocious weather. Lots of rain & lots of wind. Between the weather & other obstructions I hadn't angled much. Weather cleared up midday sunday but the wind has been a M-F'er. 20-30mph last 2 days. While catching hasnt been great, I feel like my spots have fish that ARE willing to eat, but putting meaningful casts on those spots has been tough to do with the high winds. When your able to fight the wind/waves & put some good casts in, you can grind out decent walleye action.
Nothing huge, but decent fish. & then a shameful pic of a 26&1/4" that smoked a hair jig the other day.
The baits Ive been catching on would shock exactly nobody
1/4 oz hair jigs have been productive, as well as any 3-5" plastic minnow gliding above the bottom. Caught a few on 3/8 Pulse-r today, & look fwd to throwing it more under more moderate winds, but, Buffalo PB&J continues to dominate all!
