Have to pick again before I mow the grass tomorrow. Summer is pie season between the rhubarb and fruit you can't go wrong.

How it looks when planted

I see it has many health benefits. It is also used in cancer treatment. Black raspberries are also used to inhibit tumor growth.

Damn, hook them to my veins! Those look beautiful. How far north are you guys located, curious if they may be in the woods near me.

They are in the FPs around Lake County, IL. or for some of us in our backyards.

If someone told you to look around the trails of Silver Springs State Park they wouldn't be leading you astray. Also, if anyone asks, that person was not me. 8)

I am in Kane county. There are all over the place here. God planted these in my backyard (probably via some birds). I had some raised beds I no longer planted/tended. One day I am checking the back yard and I see a whole bunch of new canes growing. I now encourage them for the last 5-6 years.

I see them all the time in FP's in the area along the bike paths. They thrive in the long grass with good sun or any open areas not regularly mowed.

I love turning blackberries into my own unique BBQ sauce.

And now my Northern Spy apples are ripe. Not a very common apple, but makes great pies.

I'm not either, unless my wife bakes them in a pie. She is an amazing baker. Nice looking berries and pie in those pics by the way!
Good fishing,

Steve

Nice fruits... Not something I'd say out loud if I were on the North side, but hey...

My folks had a huge blackberry/raspberry patch at their old house (Kane County). We'd pick gallons every year- pies and jam galore. Good stuff.

We had a sweet old lady down the road from us who used to make the sweetest blackberry wine. She passed a few years back, but man I'll never forget the taste.
