new "smoker" first "smoker"

Postby cubanice27 » Feb Mon 09, 2015 9:45 pm

Ive been really wanting a smoker for awhile now. There has just been a few problems. The first one being I live in a small apartment and my wife continually reminds me that "we dont have room for that" (hence the reason i still dont have a kayak for fishing but thats another story). The second problem is I dont have the money for a nice big barrel style smoker and the third problem is I dont have 5-12 hours of time to just sit and watch a piece of meat/poultry cook. So I did my research the past few months and found one that I liked. Its called the orion cooker/smoker. It appeared to me it had everything I needed but wasnt sure about the performance......
My brother-in-law had bought one of these earlier last year and hes made some ribs and a turkey in it. Its got some really high reviews and rating so today I bought one!! FINALLY!! Its small enough to fit pretty much anywhere, I got it on sale at bass pro for under $160 and I KNOW FOR A FACT you can smoke a 20 lb. turkey in under 3 hours.. The food has come out perfect every time. I was SUPER impressed and the smokey flavor is there. The moisture that a turkey should have and the ribs practically fell off the bone.

Its comes with 3 rib hangers (can hold 6 racks of ribs), 1 turkey/poultry holder, and 3 grates. (you can buy a all weather cover for $15)

If you are on the market for a first time "quick" easy smoker that performs, here it is. Orion cooker/smoker. Check it out!!

Here I was thinking when I opened this post I would see some smoked fish. Perhaps whitefish, salmon, or even some Beck gills or Busse Bass. Smell of smoked fish will really make the wife happy about the purchase. I loved smoked fished.

I have a orion smoker. have been using it for 5+ years. I love mine...

pm me for a phone # if you want to talk about it.

they have a owners/users website and a good facebook page..

get yourself a digital thermometer with a probe on a wire.. mine has two channels so I can know done ness of each rack.
then you dont have to guess at temperature of what your cooking..

I like the wood chips you have. be careful with the jack Daniels oak it's quite strong... i like to go 2/3 cherry 1/3 oak

venison can be hard to smoke. it doesnt have much fat.... you could wrap it in bacon of course...

You said, the wife said, "we don't have room for that", correct. But, I see you solved that problem keeping it in your frontroom, next to your couch. That is a great idea. Doubles as a table to put your beer on. More than one way to skin a cat.
24 cans in a case, 24 hours in a day, you do the math
