Sarge - not sure this will help - I know the south branch better than the north.

You could put in at Russell Woods west of Genoa on Rte 72 & paddle to Pottawatomie Woods out past Kirkland. Putting in at Russell isn't easy - you have to carry your boat over a bridge. Alternately you can put in in downtown Genoa. It's an easier put-in but it cuts off some nice parts of the river.

It's a medium distance from Genoa to Kirkland - not sure how you feel about paddling upstream to get back. Better to have cars at both ends.

Have fun.
Keep calm and fish on...

There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid

Study Google maps you find areas to launch but closer to rockford the better so more water volume kish can be very shallow extended sections where to shallow for motor

Always check the Kishwaukee River stream flow before going:
https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrogr ... gage=BVDI2
and a weather app to be sure that there are no Flash Flood Warnings.
The Kish is great but can be deadly as the flow can take someone not paying attention into obstructions above and below the waterline.

I wade parts of it with a float tube and it is great...when safe.
Be well.
