Headed out to fish The Rock next thursday...even if I don't catch nothing, I enjoy the ride. What would be biting now? Catfish or walleyes? This time no speeding ticket hopefully...

I would think it would be prime time for walleye. I've heard the Rock in Illinois has a good population. Catfish I would think would be tough, but you never know. Good luck out there.

Did somebody catch the new state record walleye out of the Rock last November?
I love the smell of Powerbait in the morning!

I'd try some suspending jerkbaits or a good ole jig and twister combo. If things are tough you could always try floating some minnows.

Two state record walleye were caught this past year out of the Pecatonica River up towards Rockford. A 15 yr old kid broke the 50 yr old record from the Kankakee River and then 2 months later someone else broke his record in the same stretch of river. I believe the new record is somewhere around 15lb 2oz give or take.

Cant go wrong with a jig and twister tail. Flicker shads, shadow raps, echo tails, Fuzzy does its or minnows/worms on a harness would all be good for eyes.
