Fished this morning in completely different conditions than Monday. That cold NE wind laid flat, the air temps rose close to 20 degrees and there was intermittent cloud cover.
Trolled the 3 way rig picking up fish here and there. I decided to hit a section of the lake that I had ignored for over a month. Glad I did. I was trolling the breakline of the old creek bed and veered off of it to hit a flat area. This beast hit a Bandit Rackit square bill. Once I wrestled the rod out of the holder I could tell I had a good fish. I was thinking gar, carp, catfish. Uh no. Got her yak side and gripped her with my grips so I could leave her in the water while I got the hooks out. With the hooks out I left her in the water while I got my camera and tape measure ready and got my rods out of the way. Took her out for a couple of quick pictures and threw the tape on her. She taped out @25 inches. My biggest NC bass since I moved here.
She was out of the water 15 seconds tops. Put her back in, held her with my left hand and took the grips off. She stayed in my palm for a few seconds then swam away.
My Lucid grips have a scale but I don’t know how accurate it is. It read over 8 lbs. Hard to read with my old eyes.It was a horse for sure.
