Only problem with cheaperthandirt is that they won't ship to crook county( if that's where you are unfortunate enough to live).

Yep, crook county. Actually Dick's has them on sale this week. Best price around, 19.95 for a box of 100. I went there Monday morning, but was too late, all sold out.

Do you ever use gunbroker.com? I got a case of 1000 less than $200 with free shipping.

Has anyone been to GAT Guns lately? I haven't been there since they stopped carrying fishing tackle.

I didn't know that. I live in Cook County just outside of Chicago city limits (thankfully), but I've been able to have ammo delivered from Cabela's, Brownell's, and Lucky Gunner without a problem. All they require is current DL and FOID (or CCW) on file. Not sure how prices compare, though. I always found Lucky Gunner to be good. It would be just like Crook County to try and put a stop to online delivery.

Reminds me, I haven't looked online for a while, I wonder if anything's available. I keep hearing stories about everything being out of stock. Can't imagine why. What could possibly make people feel like they need to stock up on ammo these days?
Good fishing,

Steve

Try ammoseek.com, it's like Priceline where you name your caliber and any other criteria and it shows the latest price and hyperlinks to who should have ammo in stock. Cheaper Than Dirt now seems to have a bad reputation for price gouging during the past few panic periods.

Every big election year this happens but even folks I know on the left (progressives is the euphemism they prefer) now are big 2a fans now with scary black rifles and live in Chicago. But good for them.

Yeah it's brutal out there looking for common calibers like 223, 9mm, 7.62x39, 22lrp, etc.. Out in rural America we enjoy going to the range but we're now stocking up on dried peas and straws to get in some range time. Seen this panic cycle go on for decades, be patient this will pass after the election one way or another.

However if you do find a nice price on ammo online do not hesitate for a second, I've seen inventory sell out in less than 5 minutes.

I think this year it's a bit different, in a sense that it goes beyond the usual "they are going to take our guns panic", although if I owned an AR-15 I'd be getting rid of right about now, because if Kamala gets a mandate she sure as hell will be taking those for free. Here we had a panic buying because of the fear of hungry mobs, now there's a panic buying because of fear of angry black people, plus some opportunistic buying - judging by the number of guns offered at surplus on the secondary market.

Ammo is almost impossible to come by. I got lucky the other day. On another site I'm on, someone posted that they put out a couple hundred boxes of Herter's Target 9mm FMJs in 100 round boxes at Bass Pro. I live about 5 minutes away, so when I saw the post, I ran up there. I got there a little more than an hour after they put it out, and I got the last 3 boxes... it all goes so damn quick right now. I'm now pretty well-stocked on the 3 calibers I need - 9mm, .40, and .22lr. I have 500-1000 rounds of each in the 9mm and .40, and about 1500 rounds of .22lr.

I won't give Cheaperthandirt any of my money. I bought some from them a few months ago, and their prices were standard. Now they're gouging like you wouldn't believe, and I heard they've done this regularly when there are incidents that drive up demand. They're charging $55-$65 for a box of 50 9mm FMJ range ammo. Like $1 a round. Fucking jerkoffs. Some of the JHP rounds are going for $75-$100 for 50. They're charging like $20-$40 for boxes of 50 .22lr. I normally pay $3-$5 a box for this stuff, or like $25 for 500 rounds. Nah... gouging that too. I hate places like that.

It'll settle down, but it won't happen until the new year.

SnE, See we can agree on some things in that cheaper than dirt are price gouging scumbags. Lol

Yeah odd little small shops I had some luck a week or so ago for some but it's pretty much dried up now I'm guessing.

Aside from the two month eta, I'm happy about this range ammo order I got at 24.6 cents a round (free shipping). It's weak, dirty but it gives my gf practice with fte/stovepipes every so often. Fyi I got this at sportsman's guide, I'm guessing this deal price is long gone now but sg has treated me well in the past with orders.

Went antiquing with the gf and ran to the counter like a bull in a china shop with this box a week ago. The Tiffany lamp is beautiful baby but a bird in hand is better than two in the bush I told her as I ran past her.

Things will settle down but just about every facet related to firearms in popular calibers from components, iron sights and barrels, etc are scarce or very back ordered or wayyyy overpriced.
