Where to go, where to go

I've got some time off coming up and seem to be stuck between my 2 go-to places: kank for smallmouth (almost a given and not too far) or trail creek for skamania (longshot and way too far). Tried heidecke last week and nothing going on 'cept spawning. I really need a new place. Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

Kank has been high and muddy for at least a month. Braidwood if you have a boat/friend with a, has been good on bass reports.
They spawn in March. I would stay closer to home stocked lakes/ponds to target as the weather has really been bad
all May with the rain.

Ive thought about the kank status, so thats a no, braidwood is out, no boat and lasalles cats dont interest me. So....idk, unless there's something local that I haven't fished yet, hmmmmm

Try Lake Chaminwood Preserve in minooka.. I went there couple years back looked nice.. heard from a local it's not a as great fishery as it used to be but worth a shot.. decent sized lake with easy shore accessibility and a dock

That includes a lot of water. There are some good spots on the South Branch of the Kish. Also, some of the lakes in the Palos Hills area are good. Busse can be killer and Skokie Lagoons has its days. And I could be wrong but I don't think any of the Dupe is more than 50 miles from Chi-town.

Thanks for the sugestions, Rambler. You're right, theres alot of water in a 50 mile radius but I've fished the heck out of palos, every river is probably not optimal now but the kish is one I'll have to keep in mind.
