Probably sick just standing with people. Good for a couple months of supplies and food for 4. What a shitty night with wife in 2 stores. Mainly bought extra stuff in case the supply chain breaks down and associated worker and production and delivery breaks down.

The 3 things to never advertise online:

1) Indecent photos of your ex

2) The dates of your home's vacancy because your whole family will be away on vacation

So the hysteria continues. What the Fed has done will work. give it a little time. Don't fight the Fed. Bears and shorts will get crushed in due time. Once the coronavirus hysteria passes, there will be a massive short squeeze and v-shaped recovery. The Fed did what it needed to do. Good work. They just fired the bullets they used to cure the Great Recession. They have new bullets if they need them, like negative rates. there's a lot of cash on the sidelines. Quants and hedgies have sold and reaped trillions in profits. That money will come rushing back in when the tide turns. Who was buying at a record pace last Friday late afternoon (1,000 point rise in 30 minutes)? Investors? No it was the FED.

On the virus, Spock said, “Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.” Look if a few old people pass away, sadly however tragic, life must go on................

It took me 4 days, but I finally found some toilet paper. It was some strange flavored off-brand, I think lavender. I put three rolls in the bathroom and the smell is making us sick. I think I'll have to store it outside in the shed. Beware: my shed is booby trapped to kill if anyone reading this has any funny ideas.

I found a single jug of bleach, goofy flavor too. I did find one store pretty well stocked on a variety of things. Target by me was 85% cleaned out of ALL food, except fresh produce. Who wants that anyhow? You know that every tomato, every loose apple, every everything has been handled by 40-60 disease bag creeps picking out the best for themselves. (that happens 365 days a year, not just in pandemics) :silent:  :shifty:

Accurate. Our government sat on their hands for 2 months saying "It will blow over. It will disappear. No reason to be concerned." Our whole government. That means both sides and everyone in between.

That's all I'm gonna say on it. Not gonna get into political pissing matches with anyone on here. Not worth it. At this point we're all in it together, and we just gotta work through it the best we can. Together.

Went to “the Jewels” and a super Walmart with #2 son yesterday just to see how bad it was. Still plenty of food but no bread, frozen junk food wiped out, TP gone (lots of Kleenex though) and so was the meat section. They had just stocked more bottled water and everyone was grabbing multiple cases, I still don’t get that. I also thought most stores were limiting people to a case or two. I saw two brothers of the Hindu persuasion with at least 6 cases a piece. Sorry Rambler but I think it’s hysteria now way more than it was when I posted this

I bought bottled water for my trip to UT in January and I still have my bottom crisper of my fridge full of ready to go bottles for...when I'm not using filtered tap water?? They just sit there, decomposing the plastic into the water slowly...unless these guys seriously never ever drink tap water then this bottled water craze is a complete mystery to me...

Yep. The bottled water is pointless considering tap water isn't going anywhere. This isn't a zombie apocalypse.

The TP too. If you run out... you have a shower next to the toilet. Hop in, wash off, and move on.

Went to Woodmans yesterday and it truly did feel like a trial run at socialism. There were upside down carts blocking aisles. Taped off areas. Aisles clear of products. Two long ass lines snaking around the store to checkout. I had my usual small list for my weekly breakfast lunches, but Inwas in there at least an hour navigating the masses.

Were the prices on the beer and booze higher than normal when you grabbed it?

I was wandering through Meijer this past weekend, and all beer seemed to be marked up $3-5 from what it normally is. Didn't walk down the wine or liquor aisles to see if the trend continued with those.

HEDDONFROG wrote:Sorry Rambler but I think it’s hysteria now way more than it was when I posted this

Dave: On further review you're right - no question it's hysteria - I should have worded my post differently.

The question is 'what's the cause?' And the cause isn't the media. We all know media - of all stripes - feeds off of sensationalism. One side says 'the sky is falling'. The other side says 'a miracle will happen and it will all go away - it's no big deal'.

I think the problem is two-fold. First as well all know, there are a lot of dumb fucks among us. They hear something & immediately freak out. A good example is (sorry I forget who posted this) the story about the woman who went to the hospital because a "Chinese" man sneezed near her. Of course there's no way to know if he was really Chinese (he might be of Chinese decent but has never been there) or one of the other many Asian ethnicities. Others hear someone who supposedly knows what they're talking about, say 'it's no big deal' so they go to their local bar or restaurant with dozens of other people. I suppose this is anti-hysterical.

I won't go into the other problem to avoid being accused of going totally politically ape-shit.

As a student of history this all reminds me of how some of our truly great presidents (Lincoln and FDR come to mind) communicated with the American people in other times of existential crisis. I won't go into deal - you'll have to either take my word for it or do your own research (and here I don't mean you personally Dave - I mean anyone who wants to know about how it could be done more effectively). But believe me the difference in how they went about it and what we're seen recently is not only astonishing but highly educational.

For the record, I used the phrase 'shit show' before my brother sent me this. Worth watching if only for the scenery. Enjoy!

Corona's now being taken advantage in ads.

As of today, Joe Namath is using the virus as a scare to get seniors into his scam Medicare Advantage plans. New virus-tailored ads. So bad.  And he still talks like a drunk sausage. Yes, Joe. It's all FREE. Everything is FREE.

I got a call yesterday. The recorded lady was honest to introduce herself as a 'bot'. (I've never heard that before). The call was using Corona as an opportunity for me to switch my electric provider to whatever they were offering.

Oh there was a good one on the news yesterday. Company has made it's own "home" virus tester. It's been approved by the FDA it says in big red letters at the top of their promo letter. Then in the small print at the bottom of the page is says it HASN'T been tested by the FDA yet. And the guy in the interview agreed they should change the info to "clear up the situation".

His test then he says is 80-98% (nice range there!) correct in identifying people with the virus. Back to that small type at the bottom: "Testing negative on this test doesn't mean you don't have the virus."  So basically it's useless. Didn't stop them from selling them to hospitals already claiming FDA approval. They later said they would recall and refund those they'd sold to hospitals in lots of 50 tests per box for like $600 or something in that range...

I did make it out to Illinois River for a day trip. 4 keepers and a few shorts. Water level good but very dirty.

BTW, my Mom is hoarding 126 boxes of Kleenex in her spare bedroom, among other things.

^^^ A very sobering video Joe. I really like the fact he's a verifiable MD. I wish more people would give more consideration to staying home or practicing more social distancing as now a MIT study suggests the human sneeze can travel 26'.

I have some higher health risk factors and so I'm trying to be much more cautious.

The planet survived but it was a very, very, very bad day for the dinosaurs and lots of other critters.

Fact is Mom Nature is a nasty old bitch and couldn't care less if our species survives or not. If we don't she'll just work up something to replace us.

Mother Nature couldn't even tell butter from Chiffon margarine and because of her embarrassment, spitefully did nothing to save Chiffon from its extinction.

Sad as it maybe there is this perspective, Mother Nature is known to provide a method to thin the herd from time to time when areas get over populated like the deer were here some years back. She just set her eyes on the top of the food chain this time and unlike deer we relocate in all directions pretty quickly by plane, train or automobile. The world is a lot smaller place now than say 50-100 years ago when you look at our travel options today as compared to 50-100 years ago. I heard some nasty estimates on the news this evening.

100-200,000 deaths?? That's what they are throwing out to avoid mass hysteria. Before 2021 is up Covid could make it's way through most of the entire US population of 328,000,000. With a death rate of only 1%, that would leave 3 million dead. (Italy is running a death rate of 9% of those infected)

Nobody is really talking about it, but the fall cold/flu season just started in the southern hemisphere. Yeah, incoming airline flights have been shut down, but wait til 10 or 20,000 border crashers start flooding in daily. You thought there was a bed and ventilator shortage now??
