Social distancing on the Tar River

Postby joetrain » Apr Mon 06, 2020 10:23 am

I decided to take a short ride this morning and scope out a small spot that has been on my radar since I moved south.

Threw an ultra light rod ,a few lures and my waders in the van and drove the 12 miles to the Tar River. This spot was a short public hiking trail that skirts the river. I hiked down there but never put on my waders. The banks are too steep and the water was deeper than I was comfortable getting in to. So I strode the banks casting a small inline and a Sluggo. Never saw a fish but the scenery was great. Birds were everywhere and everything is starting to bloom.

This little river may turn out to be a gem.

That looks real nice. Hopefully you'll find some fish in it as the year goes on.

Joe - that looks absolutely wonderful. My kind of place. I'm green with envy.
Keep calm and fish on...

There's a fine line between fishing and just sitting there looking stupid

That stream has all the right looks. I'd trade lake Michigan for a couple more streams like that closer to home.
Nature and shit.

Nice sun warmed rocks to sit and take a break while wading

Its creek time. Rivers high in spring and creeks drain quicker and better vis to.

Holy crap that looks amazing Joe. Can't imagine there not being some kind of fish there but even if there isn't seems like an enchanting little river

Yeah that's definitely worth putting more time into. The scenery alone makes it worth your while.
