Fisherman's story

Postby croman » Jun Thu 18, 2015 10:22 am

My 2 youngest fished Lake Arlington again before my oldest son's game (game was at the field right next to the lake). Just worm/bobber. Caught some bluegills. But while baiting my daughter's hook, I noticed that my son's bobber was down. Fish on! He pulled up and nothing. He tried to turn the reel and nothing (the whine of the drag at work). I thought it had caught on something (lake is very high). I said I'd be there in a sec, so he held up the rod high while he was looking at a rock or something, and the drag let out again! I dropped my daughter's rod and hopped over to him. I tried to set the hook, but only more drag let out. I tightened the drag and tried to set again, but the line was limp... reeled it in... worm gone.

... wonder what it was...

I agree on the carp. A bass tends to swim off after it takes live bait and head for deeper water. A carp will just sit there if it doesn't know it is hooked yet.
