Misc. 2011 Fish Stocking Information for Cook County Forest Preserve Lakes. Busse, Beck, Belleau, and Skokie Lagoons information can be found in those particular forums.

Hatchlings, fingerlings or 6" fish.

Usually these reports do indeed say the size of the stocked fish. This year it did not. The report is directly from the CCFPD fisheries biologist.

Sorry, Matt, no LCFPD info. But I would like to know. Perhaps i'll have to make some calls.

What is the word with Axehead? Any bass being stocked? Word is no more trout...

With the budge cuts it looks good to show that they are continuing to stock the waterways.

The cheapest way is to stock the waters is with hatchlings and hope for the best.

Over at Willow Slough in Indiana I saw hatchling pike grow to 36" in 4 years but bucket heads are not allowed. Only one entry and that is also the exit of the 1200 acre pond.

I haven't heard anything about the trout program ending at Axehead and other lakes. The spring trout season is usually early/mid April. Word should be coming soon.

Schiller Pond has to be one of the smallest stocked ponds in Cook County. I've been trying to catch them in the act of stocking that pond my whole life. Channel cats at Schiller Pond---- i think they are pretty good size possibly cuz it seems like every year when caught they're the same size never get any bigger kinda like the inland trout stockings,, My reason being that just about all are caught each season because of the heavy bucket pressure there. I grew up fishing and skating that pond. But anyway go in late july with some night crawlers at 7pm and you could be a kid in a candy store stay on the bottom with your bait cuz of the gills and turtles.. However by late August that little pond is dead..

No they don't stock big bend... Most likely because it can only be managed by the adjacent desplaines river that floods into the lake once or twice a year it seems.
