I'm back

Postby Big Flipper » Jul Tue 14, 2015 7:50 am

After a long time away from WCF I am back with this post from lake Arlington. I've fished here off and on for the last10 years. However, the last 3 years have not produced much. The lake has gone through different phases of weed control that may have made the lake prettier for the joggers but not an ideal fishery. But mother nature has had a different idea. With all the rain this year the water quality and cover growth have benefited the habitat. Last night I took advantage of my wife being out of town and decided to give LA another try. After bathing in mosquito repellent I put in along the south shore. I soon discovered that the water temperature had driven the bass to deeper water. So I added a waited offset hook to my Senco rig. I also walked up to the south peninsula and tossed in about 10 yards passed the weed line. On 6 casts I landed 5 bass like this one. All were around 3 pounds. It was a thrill. Good to be back, Arlington.

Glad to see you post again and have some results from Lake Arlington! Funny thing is, i've been planning on updating the info on Lake Arlington in the next couple of weeks. I too, have heard about the lake kinda being poor the last couple of years. I'm also pleasantly surprised to see they now offer kayak and canoe launching. I used to have a lot of fun at this lake and want to see it back on the map.

Thanks again for your post, Kevin. If you see me out there this week, say hi.

I used to fish here ALOT!
Was an underfished spot that was close to home that always produced bass and hybrid striped bass, but then
I got a job with hours that prevent my being able to get out much anymore.
There was a problem w/ bucketheads, don't know how that is anymore.
Good to see the fish are still in there in good numbers and sizes.
