3/11 Hot Crappie Bite

Postby Luv Fishing » Mar Sun 11, 2018 7:50 pm

Fished the channels from 12-5pm. Steady action thru out the day but from 1pm-3pm the crappie bite was ridiculous. Some nice gills were in the mix too. Gulp.

Nice ones! Thinking about getting my kayak up to the chain sometime this year but have no idea where to start, as I know there is a lot of boat traffic

I only fish the chain from my sea eagle ice out till end of April. Boat traffic is a minimum. Summer I don't even bother. I party on the chain more than I fish in the summer. :D
Also fish taste better when the water is cold.

Great report. How is the sea eagle treating you? Do you have a motor for it?

Can't complain. It's everything what I'm looking for in a small portal boat that fits in my Maxima. It's takes about 5-7 minutes to blow up with the foot pump. It's very stable. Can stand with no problems. Fished it in 25-30 mph winds. It was little struggle but still able to maneuver pretty well. The material is tuff as nails. They claim it's indestructible. So far I've ran into submerged trees, dropped fish / flopping around in and around the boat and had a couple occasions where a bass spits a stick bait with nine hooks hitting the boat with no damage. Over all this boat is the bomb!

And yes I have a 55 minnkota. Since I am using a trolling motor I had to register it to the state. $140. Going to get the STS10 once I get my tax return.

You're going to need to buy a bigger pan. Nice ones!
