The Fall

Postby crankybass » Oct Mon 07, 2019 3:09 pm

Last Saturday was a good day for fishing. The weather was good for fishing, and my FishingandHunting app told me it was going to be a 71% Good day, with Major time of 5:06 a.m. -8:06 a.m., and Minor time of 1:22 p.m. - 3:22 p.m. I landed six total, with three in my 16+ range season goal. The other three were 12-14". All, accept one the smaller three, were caught on a weightless Zoom Super Fluke, Pearl Chartreuse Tail (this has been a producer for me, the last two outings, with numbers and length/weight), 8lb mono (with the remaining pads and grass this was a risk, but the light line gives much better action to the lure), on my Fox River rod and Daiwa spinning reel. So, here are the three big ones:

Take a page out of the fly fishing books and try a loop knot. I’d recommend the double figure 8 loop. Super easy to tie and it’s pretty much 100% line strength. If it works on 80lb leader with feathers tied to a hook for tarpon...it’ll give that fluke more action on 12lb or whatever you’d like to throw it on.

Without paying you get the forecast for the current day and the next day, and you can look back at more than a week of past forecasts. I've thought about paying for the extended forecast ability, but two days is really all I need. It's Fishing and Hunting Solunar Time, and I have the AngLR app which is free and really is amazing.
