The end is near

Its finally sinking in that my last outings for the season are now in sight. Fall colors really started popping this week, the days are getting awful short, water temp is dropping by the day, & snow is forecast for the weekend  . From late a.m.-mid afternoon 51-54 was the range I found today.

The last 10 days have had atrocious weather. Lots of rain & lots of wind. Between the weather & other obstructions I hadn't angled much. Weather cleared up midday sunday but the wind has been a M-F'er. 20-30mph last 2 days. While catching hasnt been great, I feel like my spots have fish that ARE willing to eat, but putting meaningful casts on those spots has been tough to do with the high winds. When your able to fight the wind/waves & put some good casts in, you can grind out decent walleye action.

Nothing huge, but decent fish. & then a shameful pic of a 26&1/4" that smoked a hair jig the other day.

The baits Ive been catching on would shock exactly nobody :)

1/4 oz hair jigs have been productive, as well as any 3-5" plastic minnow gliding above the bottom. Caught a few on 3/8 Pulse-r today, & look fwd to throwing it more under more moderate winds, but, Buffalo PB&J continues to dominate all!

Nice outing. The hard water bite is not far away.

Went to check out some of my eye spots today & It was largely a bust due to the gusty winds. Struggled for a while trying to manuever the boat & cast, but it was like the 1-legged man in a buttkicking contest. Decided to check on some smallie spots that were slightly more shielded from the wind & thankfully a few were home. No spots produced double digit #'s, but most produced a few solid fish.

And, in my typical fashion, I butchered the pic of the best fish of the day!

Everything caught on buffalo pb&j, although I did have to bump up to 3/8oz to maintain feel in the wind.

Hey Pat, you should face the fish into the sun haha Just kidding. Tough conditions but you still put them in the boat. That first Walleye in the first post looks like it ate a troll doll lol So back to Florida soon or wintering up north?

Photgraphy has never been my strong suit. In that instance it was all I could do to avoid getting blown on to the shoreline rocks while trying to snap a pic.

Not sure how much longer my stay is lasting, should have a clearer Idea after the next round of Dr.s' appointments this week & next.
