Got my kayak on the river last thursday for a quick morning trip. River was way down and the stretch I was on was wadeable pretty much anywhere. Totaled 15 smallies, 1 largemouth, 1 drum, and 1 foul hooked carp. Nothing of any decent size. Caught most of the fish on twister/ 1/16 oz jig combo. Green pumpkin was the most productive color by far. The smallies seemed to be stacking up in more predictable spots with the river level down a bit. Best spots were dropoffs in moderately fast water. I see now the river is back up to where it was before it came down a bunch..we'll see what that does to the fishing...

Nice report. 15 smallies in an outing, no matter what the size, is a good day in my book! Curious, though, when you say drop-offs in fast water... you talking deeper pools immediately downstream of shallower riffles, or where the current meets slack water eddies as you move way from shore towards the main channel? Good fishing.

I actually don't fish from my kayak much. I much prefer to wade. The yak is mostly a means of transportation for me. Alot of the time I'll clip the yak to my wading belt with a lenth of shock cord.
