Decided to take by little bro perching for the first time @montrose. Got there @ 4 stayed till 8, and got a ticket from the dnr for not having my license on me. $75 bucks!! I'd understand if I didnt have one period, but thats a little overboard. Either way still was a fun day at the lake.
I will post the pics soon.

Sux about the ticket, but at least you took the little guy fishing, thats priceless...

How many keepers did he catch?
He caught about 8 and I added 2 to his total catch. I was mainly targeting bass but only managed a few 7-10 inchers. I'm an avid C&R fanatic but when it comes to perch man thats good eating! I think our trip made a new little fisherman out of that kid. Thats all he wants to do now. Thats what I love about this sport. :p

Btw saw a bunch of browns schooling around the pier. Never targeted these guys, any recommendations on what setup to use for browns? I tried using the same berkely power nuggets I use for the inland trout stocks but no hits.

You are lucky you did not get ticketed for fishing for perch. The perch season is closed for adults until Aug. 1. If the DNR guy wanted to be a real jerk he could have ticketed you for targeting perch even though you say you were trying to catch bass !!!!!

i'm glad you got a ticket. you should've had some more fines for adding perch to that pile.
I wont disagree with you, but hey I'm honest and I told the dnr lady the same thing. I could have bull sh!*ed and said I didnt catch any, and I wasn't targeting them.

live and learn!

My guess is you got the ticket becasue you where using live bait. If the little one was with you fishing for perch odds are you where to. That is why they gave you that 75 ticket. Not having the license they can look you up on file with there little computer weather in the car or from the boat. Any one over the age of 16 dont recomend using live bait. If you are casting spoons that is an obvious not going for perch. But using live bait to me that can be perching. Like in wisconsin the whole month of May is closed for game fish. If you are caught using a lure you cant tell the DNR oh I was fishing for pan fish with a lure. TICKET!!!! I would be more careful.
