been having a tough time at busse lately.10 hours on the south pool looking for walleye over 2 days, only managed 3 keeper bass and no eyes. so off i went to the main today, caught some there last week, got there at 4:45 went to find a bass at a fav spot first and it didnt disapoint after 25 mins i hooked a monster on a -1. put up a hell of a fight 4 lbs for sure fought it all the way to the boat had to be 20+ " and instead of grabbing the net or lifting it with the rod into the boat i leaned over and grabbed the line and lifted and it just fell off the lure . mother f#*!%@. and the day just kept pissing on me. next bass a 12" fought to the boat from 50' fell off boatside , moved to find some walleyes get there 3rd cast bam next to the boat, a 2lb eye 4 shakes of its head and gone! 10 mins later another eye this won i finally landed 17" 1.5 lbs

though it sucked down my shad and bleed thoght i had a good release after 5 mins but 20 mins later saw a seagull land and start picking apart somethingabout 120' away, the eye i just released.

DAMN when it rains it pours doesn't Jim? :D

Was it from hook sets? or dull hooks? Maybe it was the "Self-Release" mechanism. Either way looks like Main Pool is fairing better than South Pool. Great Report either way sorry about the mishaps.

LMAO! Not at you misfortune, but for the great read. You know what... you still got out and had a great time - AND got on fish. I'd rather have a day like that that getting skunked all together. Although... maybe not.

At least you didn't need to dislodge any hooks from your person. I was only able to go out last Saturday morning, and while I expected slow fishing, I saw nothing and was immensly frustrated. It's not all bad. You saw fish.

Hey Busse Jim thanks for the report. I'm looking for Eyes also, had a lot of success when water temp was cooler with small shad crank baits and would catch eyes and few bass. It's flip-flopped and I'm getting some bass with crankbait shad but no Eyes at all. What are you using for the walleye success now with the warmer water???

Fished Tuesday main pool at me eyes spot and got a couple 2lb bass but no eyes. I will try some other spots tonight for an hour in yak.

BTW...I fished Fox river for 1st time last Saturday. Mostly just kayaked with my my son who doesn't like to fish but I did bring a rod with just a twister tail on a jig and got 3 smallies without a lot of fishing time. I will be back at the fox to dedicate more time there on weekends.

I hate leaving a body of water knowing that I did everything right to catch a big fish except land it. That's usually when I fish back-to-back days, that first day just leaves me with a hunger to fish. Busse J you have done so well this year, I know you'll bounce back quick.
