So I guess I shouldnt hit any Subdivision Ponds with friends and family unless I am paying Association fees personally.
If you get premission, yes. If not, no.
Is it really so tough to understand? Private means private. Illegal is illegal.

Let me put it another way for the hunters out there.
How many of you guys hunt where there's No Hunting! signs. Care to justify that one?
Rich give me more life lesssons please....

-Some rules are meant to bent of broken... I know this old polish man, who doesn't have a pot to piss in, who fishes for food from the DPR with out a license. I seen him hand throwing his line a few years back, but before that I had seen him with an older rod. So I gave him an old cheap ugly stick from the trunk, two years later he is still using it. Thats how I know he doesnt work or own much.(aside from his clothing and appearance) I won't say who, but I am guessing people in here would rather see him fined or kicked off the river or whatever. God Bless America
Buy his licence for him too then and get back on topic. DPR is public land.

Holes in fences on private property and garbage left by fishmen/tresspassers. Cops wasting our taxpayer money shooing away guys who know they should not legally be there. Parking where others pay for it year round. "Weirdos" hanging out...
Great representation of our sport. Thump, thump.
You mean like your spot in Rosemont behind the Hotels... Theres no public parking there behind the Marriot next to the office buildings, don't tell me you break laws too now Rich. tsk tsk

So you are fine with poaching and trespassing as long as it suits your needs, that's just immature.

I am so done with this thread.
Never poached an egg much less a fish either.. As far someone else taking a blue gill for food, I have no complaints. This thread got way to off topic, my fault. But some dude wants to fish that stinky puddle over there that is not managed for fishing at all, so be it and good luck. This isn't some federally protected wetland land. Its a brickpit surrounded by mostly section 8 housing where some residents throw their old Air Conditioning units along with TVs and couches into the water only cause the dumpster is too far away. Sorry if I offended any y'all with those cheap comments but this place is okay to check out and take a one hour skunking at. And as far as TressPassing Goes, just about every big dam I fish at has one of those signs, and another that will say something like stay back 100ft or something. Guilty as charged I guess if its that Black and white for you.

You ASSume I have not asked for permission and not been granted permission to [PARK] in a place to leagaly fish.

Keep o n being a great advocate for legal fishing and I will keep thinking you have a clue.

Not what you catch...how you catch it.

I don't mean to come off as "Holier than Thou", and I'm sorry if that's the impression I gave. But trespassing is a major peeve of mine. I have lost personal permission to hunt and fish a lot of excellent private properties over the years (individually, and corporate owned) because too many people without permission would trespass to hunt, fish, party, whatever... And for liability concerns, axed anyone from accessing their properties period. And not only have these people cost me the places I worked hard to gain permission to access, but then to STILL see people out unlawfully using the same property!! Just gets me steaming. But as always the case, a few slobs ruin it for everyone.

Just like the "100ft away from the dam" sign. That is not for conservation purposes. That is because too many idiots who probably have no business in the water to begin with, have died at these dams. Its pretty common sense when it's ok to get in the water, and when it's not. Maybe the signs will save a life, maybe they won't. But atleast there was warning.
I can tell you first hand, that putting your own life at risk to either save some idiot who couldn't use sense at the dam, or pulling the lifeless body out of the tumble wash, is not something you enjoy. If everyone could just use common sense, this would be an easier world to live in.

Only problem with common sense, is it's not that common!

WOW, nice back and forth guys . hadn't thought about that trout farm since the 70s. just one question, is that big sign with the guy catching a trout still up? was a cool sign!
actually its in a couple pieces stashed away in the bushes and weeds right off golf road. You can make it out pretty good in the winter after the leaves fall off the brush.

So many other legal decent places to fish around that area, why take a chance at that dump ?
Because some people don't 'get it'. Simple.
Lets stop educating please.

Des Plains... has almost no section 8 housing.
Education and relevance kills...
Where's that DUHHHHH emoticon when I need it?

As a rental owner Section 8 is an ugly ugly thing, I'd rather dump empties in the trout pond anyday. It teaches destruction of property and disregard of common decency as far as I can see. If you'd like to get involved I will sell you my rental for a reasonable price.

Thanks for all the responses. It kind of got away from my original question but a good read. Please keep in mind, I was merely posing a question to the board and never had any intention of fishing that spot.
