Took my uncle to Lake X from 7-2 yesterday... 18 bass, all but one on a crankbait, only 3 keepers... Definitely going through a cycle over there... Nothing over 2.5 pounds in three trips over there this year... Hopefully a cold winter wakes this lake up come April...

Well the numbers aren't bad but the size has me scratching my head. In the past you would throw up some serious fish porn where size did matter.

Yeah, it is weird... Back in '08 and '09 I would get a lot of 2-3 pound fish with the occasional 4 pounder mixed in, and now I have only seen one 3.5 pounder in 2 years... I imagine they are still in there but the lake is definitely cycling or just seeing a larger population of smaller fish right now that are more aggressive...

How shallow is the lake? Thinking maybe hot summer from this year and lack of rain may have turned the lake over to much or/and the really bad winter we had 2 yrs ago caused fish kills from too much ice? Miliken Lake over by wilmington used to be a hidden gem for big largemouth and quantity. We could go there 2 yrs ago and catch a dozen slot bass a piece without breaking a sweat. Now I have to fish my butt off to pull 1 or 2. The lake is only between 3 and 6 ft deep for a majority of the lake except for the NE corner.

I raped that place.

just joking, being it a catch and release lake that gets watched often...DNR there like every weekend, i would sayit just a year class thingy...it is hard to not catch a bunch of runts...on the power baits.

that being said flip the beaver dam... big girls are around... and dont put the frog away yet...great fall frog lake!

I agree with JayPee... Probably going through a cycle... Saw zero activity at that Beaver Dam... Hell of a dam though... Huge... Boat is great... Getting it back on the trailer is tough with no water at these launches... Making progress on making it easier though... Love that I can fish sitting
the front of the boat and kick back...

Yeah, up to 3 years ago I would get some real pigs there. Lots of 3's and the occasional 4 or 5. Don't know what happened. It seemed to just flip like a switch. Very crappy because it is about 10 minutes from my house and it was a nice quick fix. Besides a winter kill, the only thing I can really think of is pressure. In the spring time there are usually quite a few boats out, even on weekdays now. Maybe delayed mortality or someone in there has been taking them out. It is not the biggest lake around.
