The further away from the lake, the picture of the fish is taken. The longer the fish is out of water. This decreases the chance that the fish will survive. Sure it swam away but that in no way insures the fish will live. At least you let the fish go.

Easily six pounds! Good stuff sir.

Ive seen hogs like these in there but they never look twice at anything i throw at them. Looks like the flooding worked in your favor and of course dedication to get out there.

You guys are killing me!
Ok, I'm pretty much a fishing newbie - I started last summer. There is a certain local pond that treated me pretty well last year, with lots of bass (including a 19") and bluegills. I've been stopping there on pretty much every day with decent weather for the past month, and have not had a single bite. I've tried spinners, buzzbaits, crankbaits, rubber worms, live worms, rooster tails and harsh language. Nada.
Somebody give me a clue! How are you guys catching fish? There must be some trick to the early part of the season that I'm missing.

+1

Just about anyone who regulary fishes FP ponds with clearer water sees fish like this. They are so educated from pressure they become very difficult to catch, especially on artificials. Again, job well done.

Again impressive fish from axe head.

But....

if this fish is 6lbs then I have tons of 2lb bluegill pics...
This fish is not 6lbs I'll give ya the 22inches but if this fish was actually weighed it would NOT have came close to a 6lb bass. Close to 5lbs maybe a few oz over.

HAPPY FISHING!

I can see it being six pounds. I caught my PB a few years ago at 4.5lbs and this is significantly larger than mine. Whether its 6 pounds or 5lb 3oz or whatever , still a great bass from a place not known for big bass. Really no need in debating the weight because it doesn't change the fact that it's a h-a-w-g.
