Bob,

How did you make your cart? I pulled a few plans off line but they were overkill IMO. While I do need to exercise more that walk at Big rock about killed me. Help a brotha out

Sorry bout the knee buster UA. :? It came that way from the factory.
Haha, no worries. I just cant imagine what someone would put there that wouldnt get hit every 10 secs.

From a recent trip to the lagoons. Instead of permanently attaching the mounts I bolted the scotty mounts to the crate. I solved the Wet Butt issue by putting a towel in the bottom. It isnt a wet ride necessarily but even a 1/4 inch of water in the bottom automatically travels to the seat. The towel absorbs all the water that comes in from paddling so none of it travels to the seat and everything stays bone dry.

I keep a ShamWoW handy for any unwanted moisture.
Thats not a bad idea but I need more of a water absorber for paddle splash then something to wipe down moisture. Once the water splashes into the yak it rides right to the seat. Like I have an anus magnet.

Updated my crate for a recent trip to Mallard.

Sprayed it Black to match the Yak better. Added a smaller mini crate to the front for my tackle and plastics. Its a little easier reaching back and grabbing from the small crate then rooting around in the larger one.
Large crate holds lunch cooler, FIrst Aid Kit, larger items bug spray etc.
Small crate holds tackle and worms, Pliers, Leatherman.. anything else I need on hand.

I attached the Scotty holders to the crate with bolts and washers as opposed to bolting them to the yak. I troll one while Im paddling with a worm

Previous Crate-

Current set up.

Camera stand- Added from various tutorials. Just some PVC and a screw.
Attached to the crate with a bunji cord so I can rotate it if needed.

I attached the smaller crate higher up so I can store stuff under it and still access the dry storage compartment.

Worked well for the trip. It holds everything I need, take the whole thing off and the Yak is naked, nothing else to remove and pack.

Still cant figure out the anchor system. I attach the anchor with some clips to the front along the side but there is no "neat" way to deploy the rope. At the end of the trip it is always a birds nest of rope that I have to untangle and wind back up by hand.

I dunno what I like more. The crate set up or the rubber duckie.

Nice. :p
Installed the Cuda last night for a day of fishing ( IN THE RAIN!) tomorrow.
Jazzed.
I couldnt find a bad review on the Cuda 300 aside from it having poor readings in less then 2' which for the price is good enough for me. Then after I bought it I went through this thread again and read a negative review.
5 mins install last night. Hopefully it will work tomorrow.

How did you guys tackle your Transducer? I went with a lump of silicon in the hull and just pressed it in.

I basically did the same thing but with Marine Goop. I made a ring around the transducer with putty, then filled the ring with goop and pressed the transducer into it. As long as there are no air bubbles in the silicone it should work well.

Temperature on mine doesn't work well, as soon as the sun heats up the hull it's inaccurate. The fish finder works as well as it's supposed to, useful mostly for depth.

Bob and I were just talking about rope storage. I think this is the way to go but need to find a less expensive version.

I have been looking at the same FF GPS combo but no color. Also I'm questioning if I really need GPS on the unit. For the amount of big lake fishing I'll have time to do. I'm not sure if it's worth the added expense. Sure would be sweet to have though!

I was looking at those as well. There are a few dive sites that have them as well, different versions. Looks to be the perfect solution. I brought a stake out pole with me yesterday to the Lagoons and didnt use it once. All anchor. Apparently Im stuck with the anchor. I made less of a mess with the line this time and found that a anchor trolley is my next priority.
The wind yesterday was insane, my yak was facing South, East, West, it was nuts.

Good news- Fish Finder worked GREAT! Once I fine tuned the options I could see the fish, the depth, the slopes and drop offs. I almost want to map out some lakes now. There is a whole section of the lagoons I fished last time that I thought was about 15'. Turned out its 5-6'. Found another spot that goes from 5' to 10' without much slope. Saw the most action there.

Im still getting used to interpreting the FF though.
The graph is moving right to left, is it just showing the next set of readings? I never came across any suspended fish with it. I did see them on the screen as apparently they were just cruising by. On the next pass of the screen they were gone.

I have been seriously considering getting a yak. I am hoping to find someone with a couple of these to try some ya fishing out before pulling the trigger.

I'm a new yak owner. Didn't realize there were so many of us on this site!
We really should do a WCF yakkers get together...

TTT, just wondering if there are any new yak owners in the mix.

Also, Cranked, need blueprints for the weelz-of-life.

And lastly, anyone interested in a yak rally?
I am down.
I was thinking a Busse walleye assault might be in order, maybe a catch and release (with photo) contest.
I was looking into the small boat clubs and their rules don't suit a kayak well. Aerators, partners and weigh in catch and release tournaments aren't easy things in a 60lb hunk of plastic.
Thinking of giving it a name, What do you guys think of "Little Hooker"?

Non yakkers welcome, of coarse. In between fishing, I'd extend an hour or so for non yakkers to try out my kayak to see if its something theyd like.
You are genorous, I don't know if I am ready for someone else to ride my baby. Maybe with time.
